This shiny lovely specialized arrived for from Tim, (development cycle) for that special place in my shed.

1995 S-Works FSR Team

I havent built it up yet but had to share my excitment!.

I want to build it up as soon as possible as my summer ride. Spec will be a bit mixed to start as thats what I can afford and It will be updated as I go along.

So thats some idea of what Im going with to start with funds are very limited but I hope it will look nice! and ride nice.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

19/06 Update

Iv'e just about finished touching in the scratches on the frame although these need to be wet&dry flat. Then the whole frame polished if I decide to keep as is.

Im in 2 minds should I build and ride.

Or send it of for a custom paint job first.

To be honest the paint although not in bad condition is a bit thin in places.

I have a couple of c/set options some M951 XTR cranks or XT but will prob use the S-works.

Not sure If I should respray the frame before the build paint isn't to bad but is a bit thin in places.

Would be getting a custom paint job. If I decided to re-spray so it wouldn't be specialized red.

Next a picture of worse, marks on frame ( these need another coat and to be flatted down and polished but you get the idea.

Can anyone post a poll as to re-spray..

Or build and ride.

I'd build it and ride it. Then you can enjoy it over the rest of summer and maybe review the respray over winter? There's nothing wrong with a couple of battle scars on a bike. If it was in fresh paint you'd only worry about that first mark being made.

Loving the build though, looks great. FSX forks are stunning.

Ride it as it is. Battle scars are all about the history of a bike. My Stumpjumper wears plenty of them, all been touched up, but all give a certain charm.

There is nothing better than a bike with nice kit, owned by an enthusiast, but that has a few marks to show it gets USED!

+1 - couldn't agree more, especially in this instance as I've seen this frame in the flesh and apart from the character of these 'battle scars' it's still in bloody good (and deep, red, glossy) finish

Leave the paint, build it, rag it, enjoy it.........

Thanks to one and all for your help Iv'e made some progress

This is my first proper build and I have doubted at times I could do it, Ive made mistakes!, but enjoyed it. (most noteably the machine yellow magura, These have now been freshly painted minstral grey ( XTR Colour so please ignore them in pics).

Frame aquired from Tim ( Development Cycle)
Forks from Rob ( Goldern MTB)
Bars from ( Jamiedyer) I think
Wheels came from a donar trek 7000. Ti bolts from donar dynatech.
Yeti Grips from Mike
Flite from Mike
Cables from Si (Sithlord)

Thanks to one and all and anyone I haven't mentioned and all the kind help and advice

So The FSR paint work was touched in.
Acquired a XTR front and rear mech and chainset with XT shifters.
Fitted my first ever H/set and BB.
Much struggling and cursing the magura, choosing the wrong paint etc but its somewhere close.

Now for the photo's !!!
there's still lots to do till Im completely happy.

Magura are now XTR Grey and Original FSX Brace has been repaired and will be going back on shortly.

A fantastic looking bike- these are one of the best looking FS bikes around and the forks are perfect too.

I hope you don't mind me saying but I don't like the Hope stem- gold bars yes but I think a red, grey or silver stem would look alot better.

Don't repaint it it looks spot on!
