Odd to see a Kona Custom decal on this - does it have a standard-format serial number?
As far as i'm aware yes starts F94---
I don't think I've ever seen that decal before on a frame that wasn't built in the USA, and certainly all the other photos I have of 94 Kulas have the Mountain Shock decal there. It's hard to see why they would even have Kona Custom decals available in a Taiwanese factory, but clearly this was built at the Fairly works and is in every respect a standard 94 Kula.

You do sometimes see F9 instead of just F (e.g., F9402 0647 is also a 94 Kula), so maybe F9 is a particular department within Fairly.

You (us) lot are such geeks...I love this website.

I also quite fancy this bike...see offer on PM...

kona klein

Nice bike!
Actually Kona was one of my favorite brands back in the days.
Bought A Klein instead but was tempting to get a Kula (or Ku for that matter).
Again, cool bike!

(free bump!)

I've always wanted a steel kula to see how it compares to my 08 kula deluxe. Must resist the steel

That'll be the USA's finest Easton Ally not steel

Finest scandium  not just your run of the mill ally! I meant from a geometry and handling point of view. It would be good to see the differences(aside from the scandium one being super stiff etc)
