1994 Kona Hei Hei frame

Re. disc brakes:
Maybe he means it had an A-to-Z adapter or something, rather than a welded disc mount?

Then the only minor issue would be the "modified" TT cable stop that the seller refers to. But no decent pictures of the mod.

The bidding pattern does seem unusual [cough].

Both _***y £668.89 and c***c £750 retracted their bids because they entered the wrong amount and they did so within 4 minutes of one another, and yet neither of them has made a corrected bid even though the auction only stands at £216.

Somebody called f***u is driving the price along now.

Hi chaps, I'm new to the board and also the winning bidder of the Hei Hei on ebay. The reason I retracted my bid is because the other person (bidding it up) had retracted their bids and so had seen my maximum offering.

I'm not too bothered about the 'modification' as I'll be putting V brakes on anyway but a pic would have been good.

Can I ask Anthony why you don't think it's a 94 frame?

From 94 to 96, the Hei Hei was a different shape than the normal Kona shape, with a higher top tube/shorter seat tube extension, as in the example shown below. I believe the frame is most likely a 93.

The other big difference, which isn't visible, is that the 93 and earlier frames were not 'suspension-adjusted', i.e., they were designed for a 39cm a-c rigid fork. This doesn't mean that it's impossible to fit a suspension fork, but it might be best to stick with a short-travel one. A Pace RC35 would be fine. If you want to build it rigid, best to look around for a 1993 P2 or a Pace RC30. 94 and later P2s had a 41cm a-c and that would take the edge off the handling.

Yes you're quite right, the seat tube extension looks far higher. Thanks for the info and quick response.

It hasn't arrived yet so hopefully it's not as dodgy as it looks! PayPal does have its uses.

Cheers
