Hi I would get the frame powder coated I was a a panel beater paint sprayer for 18 years, to prep the frame by hand to a good standard will take you the best part of a day then you need to buy acid etch primer to promote adhesion of your primer filler, then there is the time involved in flatting the primer, dont use a rattle can for the top coat it wont last 2 minutes, 2k High solid is the best option but its not cheap, you cant beat powder coating mate, we use LSN in Castleford but thats to far for you, I am sure someone will be able to help :D :D

You've either posted in the wrong thread or your about three weeks too late. :-)

The frame is all done now apart from a little flatting work on a few runs.

what did you mess up on the hammer logo? they look the same before and after pics? :?

Yeah the logo I messed up never made it onto the frame, I peeled the backing away and promptly dropped it sticky side down! Doh!:-)

It was on the other side of the frame so you couldn't see it was missing in the older photos.

The rebuild has started! ;-) finally!

I've fitted all the major parts, except saddle. The saddle is looking a bit tired, so I want to do a bit of work on it before I fit it. I only have the cables to fit now, hopefully I'll be doing that tomorrow.

I have fitted some new in the box VP peddles, that actually came with my Marin Quake 1997. I never used them as I fitted DX spuds from the get go on the quake. I'm hopping they will allow me to use my normal biking shoes.

Everything is going well so far, I'm waiting for my first problem! ;-)

Ok It taken a while for me to get the final pics done, but hear they are. Overall i'm very happy with it, there are a few things I might change. The seat post is badly scratched, and I'm not keen on the look of the stem, but other than that I love it.

Thanks, yeah the colour came out really well, very close the the original, just the size of the metallic particles are wrong I think, should have been bigger.

I wish I had the matching wheel QRs as well, but they must have been some of the few parts I got rid of. :-(
