1993 Ridgeback 601 GS

Gave it a quick polish.. shame it's got rusty bolts (6 new bottle cage size bolts on the list)

And weighed it for lardiness points. . . 31lb

Some decent tyres might get it under 30lbs for starters. Those chainsets are pretty heavy too.

I weigh a scratch over 200lb, a few lb off the bike would be cool but there's better places I could lose weight from, if you get me ;)

Looking for DX or LX groupset, I think... need to wait for some funds to materialise first though.

Kalloy UNO post and stem, WTB saddle will do for now too..

Not got any bars in mind, going flat though 8)

Shame that there's a few rusty spokes, the hubs and rims are virtually unmarked under a little grime.

That Voodoo sitting in the back row there weighs in at 28lb.. but that has bouncy bits up front (and the '07 Aggressor is 27lb, al frame on that though)

Ridgeback 601: Stolen from Leicester

I had a Ridgeback 601, which I bought new in my late teens (late 80's). I saved up for ages for one and will never forget the day I picked her up from the shop in Chester (cant remember which one) and rode her home to Halkyn Mountain about 15 miles away. This was my first ever mountain bike and I loved every second of riding her over the next few years. In 1991 I left home to start a building surveying degree at Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University). My faithful steed went with me, but was stoled from outside the Poly one day, despite being locked to some railings with a heavy duty chain. I was propper gutted!!!

I got a ridgeback 602GS, bought it new in 95 (I think) & still use it now. Must have done about 60-70 miles this week on it.
What's the difference between models 601/02/03/04 ..... GX/GS as I've no idea at all

Cheers.
Anyone know the difference between models?

Frame? Groupset obvs? Wheels??
