Have decided to do a parts build. Don't want to be buying in parts for this one.
After a good rummage through the bike department a plan is starting to form.
I always felt these frames needed a group set higher than the black LX they came out with.
Found a pair of RM-17's on LX hubs so thought they were an appropriate nod.
Likewise found some black Maxxis tyres, the yellow label kind of goes with the decals and although I think these bikes look best with black stems, bars and posts my parts stash dictates otherwise so the black tyres are my substitute. Will sort out the back one in time...
Really wishing I didn't hacksaw the stem in my haste to get it in a bike box immediately before flying! Bolts are finally undone but it ain't shifting tonight.
I was confident it wasn't going to be recovered this time, so I needed a replacement...
After looking I ended up with a short list of three bikes.
1. 1993 Stumpjumper M2 in Violet with black LX from Penny Farthing cycles in town.
2. 1993 Cannondale can't remember the model maybe M900? with XT / DX mix?
3. 1993 Extreme Attitude with M900
Agonizing, I discounted the M2 and had to decide between the Dale or the M900.
The Extreme won out, it was $2,800 and the groupset alone was worth $3,200. It came with a free fat Aluminium frame, even had a M900 seatpost and collar - it was all there. The plan was to upgrade the frame in time...
Yes that's a snoopy duvet cover!
Back to the M2, funnily enough this one started life at Penny Farthing cycles - full circle!
