I VERY EXCITE!
Firstly, thanks to all on the forum that assisted me in the stripdown of this 17year old bike! The seatpost and bottom bracket were a pig but advice from you and a little determination and its stripped down and ready for finishing.
Got it booked in for the end of the month to get powdercoated a light gunmetal/dark silver metallic.
Big thanks to Gill for the Decals and for the professional approach and assistance.
Once shes back from powdercoating the build starts! I cant TELL you how excited about riding my childhood bike again! To that end (and I know this will displease some of the die hards) I have put the emphasis on useability so a mix of period and new/upgraded parts will be used.
Period Parts:
Original Project 2's and Velocity Stem
Bontrager BX-1 and BX-3 Rims
Dia Compe SS-5 Brake Levers
Deore Thumb shifters
Bar ends (make not known but bought at same time as bike in 1993)
XT rear mech
DX front mech
DX Crankset
Non Period parts
Saddle (undecided make and model, advice welcome!)
Seatpost (advice welcome)
Tyres
Casette
Chain
XT/XTR V-Brakes
Grips
Will be a few WANTED ads shortly for some of the above parts, unless I go and get brand new stuff.
Will post pics as soon as shes back from the powdercoat!
