1993 Kona Cinder cone renovation

Afternoon all

Bear with me as I'm new round here and haven't had a chance to do a full search on this topic yet.

What I need to know is what head set I'm going to need to enable me to fit suspension forks to my old 93 cinder cone. I'm not sure on the steerer dimension as yet. Does it need to be a specific size for the bike or can I go for whatever I want as long as I have the correct head set to fit?

I intend to install an a-ahead set now as I have had to cut the old stem to get the project 2's off

What size do I need to fit the head tube?

Ta everyone

Both my '92 c cones are 1.1/8th inch so your will be too. You'll need an aheadset (£10 plus, or lots more if you must) and go easy on the suspension - not too much travel or it'll look daft and handle like a merangue

:P

Why did you need to cut the old stem?

Cheers for that

The old velocity stem seemed to have fused to the steerer of the forks.

The allen bolt sure as hell wasn't moving anywhere as it hasn't been adjusted for donkeys!

I kinda thought that would be the case with the suspension though it largely depends on what can be begged or borrowed in the fork department!

The 1.1/8" refers to the steerer dimension does it or to the internal head tube diameter? Want to make sure I get the correct head set fitted.
