Yes, but also the dent, the nasty blemishes and difficulty of repairing metallic paint, the very small size and the collect-only were all counting against it. Perhaps the size was the biggest drawback - quite a small fraction of mountain bikers are 5-7 or less.

The Kilauea that raised £447 recently was also a 96, but didn't have any of those disadvantages, although I admit that was an exceptionally high value.

Sometimes small frames are sought after for just the reason you stated, and they go higher.

Yes, 447 gbp is ridiculous for an old Kilauea. Remeber the one I told you I had; I've since sold it. I bought it cheap, (apparently), and I sold it cheap. listed it for $150 usd and had my email box flooded. I was going to go in order of emails, till one guy said he would give me $250 usd for it; I agreed, and he was pleased.
