1992 Clockwork build advice re Formula Bars

I've 2 pending Orange builds - a 1990 Prestige & a 1992 Clockwork. The Prestige comes with a Orange Formula bar/stem combo. I've got all the parts in for the Clockwork including Tioga Prestige bars & stem.

I'm thinking it might be cool to put the Tioga Prestige bars & stem on the Prestige instead & the Formula bars on the '92 Orange?

Would either be period correct?

Either way is fine in regards to the bars. I would probably go Prestige with combo stalk bars, however try both and see how they look. Both sets of bars are great in my opinion.

If you wanting to be period correct then a hotrod bar or Ramrod for the clockwork 92. Equally the prestige bar would look good

FWIW, its not a Formula Bar and stem combo, its a stalk Bar and stem combo, not that it makes any odds what it was called, its still cool. Im told the difference was Tig and Fillet nothing more.


You might find on the Stalk Bar and stem combo, the bars will come up very narrow when compared, which might be the deciding factor for you anyway if its a rider.

Thanks - I picked up the incorrect nomenclature from the ad for the Prestige. I'll see which way way to go when the builds are underway - both need paint so will likely do together. All my bikes get ridden but these will only be fair weather summer rides & probably only do 3-4 hundred miles a year tops so I'll probably be able put up with the width.

I wasn't aware my self until recently i wasn't being picky, i made the same assumption, 30 years later they are few and far between and ive only seen them on Formulas too.

That one looks a nice length too... :shock: it wasn't until i stumbled on the review, did i realise they were available aftermarket, your is the first ive seen that not on a formula, very cool look isnt it.

Is that because that's how they came bought as a full bike? I'd need a Stalk stem to go with them?

&/or the Tioga bar & stem are later?
