Nice bike, fair price...
but I sold a white spider last year for £700 (with older xt kit and the paint was a bit scruffy)
It was in the shop for about a year!
(And that includes vat and guarantee)
Ought to be worth more, but that's how it is
As the new owner of one of my 2 all time halo bikes, a CR Dogs Bolx courtesy of @retrobikeguy I’m keen to see interpretations of people’s builds of their DB’s, such as @markjohnson76 ’s lovely thing below:
I think I’m fairly clear on how it’ll go, but keen to gather opinions along the way…
My love for bikes from the late 80s and early 90s is certainly no secret.
I have a passion for it, Why.......because it was my retro, my teenage years, when life was less bogged down with responsibility!
Like many here, i was fortunate to work with bikes, i rode a bike, i raced a bike, i read all the mags and talked to as many people i could, making
new aquaintances and even good friends along the way.
Nothing impressed me more than the Frame Builders..the guys that built the frames. These machines werent just bicycles.......
NO WAY......a bicycle was something you bought in...
Here is some reading for you, there's probably a lot more, but these two threads might help.
I hope this helps, its probably easier to look through than explain because there's a bit more going on with the frames than first meets the eye.
As all Roberts bikes were custom built for each buyer I find it really interesting to imagine who the original buyers were and what the frames specs were. I presume all buyers had to physically visit the Roberts shop to order / collect the bikes. Like getting a tailor made suit!
It’s also noticeable how many posters in your thread from 2012 are no longer posting on here. Hope they are still riding.
