I am selling my Kona Lava Dome. I bought this bike new in 1991. Since then it has had moderate use, mainly as a training aid and an alternative to running. At no time has it ever been abused or raced off road. Many times i have looked at other bikes and contemplated an upgrade but over the years i have become very attached to the Kona so i have always stuck with it. Last year i decided to spend some money and upgrade the bike as it was still running original components. £400 was spent replacing both derailures, bottom bracket, chain, brakes, handlebars, shifters, stem, seat post, wheels, hubs, tyres etc. I have tried to match as much as possible by using Shimano. Mainly Deore LX though some parts are Deore. I will detail the full spec below. The reason i am now selling this bike is that i have been offered the chance to do some off-road training. I will need a full suspension bike and i have no room to keep them both so finally the Kona must make way.
The condition of the frame and project 2 forks is fabulous. Yes, it has been used so there are minor marks but nothing more than you would expect. To be fair i would describe this bike as in excellent condition both from a cosmetic point of view and mechanically. The only real scratching is from a bit of chain suck.
The Specification.
Frame: 19" cr-mo tubing tange mtb - original "Joe Murray" finished in it's original yellow.
Forks: Project 2, again original spec and finished in original yellow.
Brakes: Shimano Deore LX V brakes front and rear with Shimano Deore levers.
Shifters: Shimano Deore LX 27speed.
Front and Rear Derailures: Shimano Deore LX
Chain: Shimano
Cassette: Shimano
Seat Post: Easton EA50
Seat: Kona
Chainset: Sakai X1 with 48 tooth top ring. This was the original chainset, again in excellent condition.
Rims: Mavic D521 with eyelets and box sectioning for great strength.
Hubs: Shimano Deore LX
Handlebars: ITM "Lite Lux" Oversized riser bars.
Stem: ITM
Tyres: 2 x pairs, Brand new set of slicks for road use as in pictures and a nearly new set of Continental Verticals 26 x 2.3
Grips: GT
