Had this bar and stem set up sitting around and wanted to see how they would look with this frame.

Oh snap that looks rad. I want to make something like this for my son next spring.

I also think a silver stem would work nicely and keep the seatpost company - it looks a little bit lonely now

Agreed I have at least 5 black seat posts but none 26.4 if I go this route I will have to source a black one

I’m normally a stickler for a more original look, but that looks a blast to ride and the colour combo works well.

I am as well, especially when all original components are they are in great condition. Was actually thinking the feed back would be negative but pleasantly surprised so thanks folks for being open minded. I do feel that not being a top tier frame gives one some freedom to customize/ personalize the bike.

I’m thinking the black LX M560 groupset will complement the build fairly well. Didn’t have time to do the rear cantis yet but def will do

Yes it definitely is too much for this build. I’ll have to check the bin see what I have available

Still a bit bulky but all I have that’s better then the original. Shift pods are a little elevated but I don’t hate it. Would need some bar extenders to enable me to turn them down more. That may happen or I may do something different once I figure out the gearing set up I want

Little bit of progress last night. New chain arrived just before our postal strike so got it mounted. Going to hopefully get some cabling done this weekend.

I found this fork mounted cable hanger in my parts bin. It came off a suspension fork of some kind and I hung on to it. It will need some modifications but I think I can make something that’ll work for me.
