1990 Yeti Ultimate

That looks awesome; could have been a picture taken in 1991..! The view isn't bad either, BTW.

Would love to hear more about the bike itself: are those M1's still functioning, what's the other kit on the bike, isn't that chain way too slappy :), etc., etc., etc.

Re:

Bike is as follows:

Araya RM21 rims with Bullseye hubs hand built by Wheelsmith (yes, they were a local shop)
Campagnolo cranks, Shimano XT derailleurs, XT shifters and brake levers, ATAC stem, Hyperlite bars, Chris King headset and the Manitou 1.

The Manitou 1 works great after a suspension fork parts.com rebuild. As good as new. Pricey for some elastomers, but it worked, no drama. Hardest part is cleaning out the melted elastomers.

Story of the bike is that I used to race in 1991 and 1992, mostly NORBA sport class with the highlight being a 7th at the National finals in Durango. I did that on a Yeti ARC. This bike is almost that bike, but heavier and WAY cooler. Wanted an Ultimate back in the day, but it was so heavy. Got very involved with work, family and competitive soccer. Blew out my knee, so back on the bike I go. I have a couple of other vintage bikes including an Answer Manitou FS, Aguora Hils Yeti FRO and a 3DRacing hardtail. This bike is my favorite.

Los Gatos, California is where I work and ride, I live in San Jose, so many great rides here.

Going out for another ride today.

Great Bike and scenery Mark. Post up some pics of your other bikes when you get a chance

So good and a great back story! Being in San Jose I bet you ride JNT quite a bit? (I rode there once when I visited Rumpfy.)

Really want to see your FRO and 3•D 8)
