1990 Rek-Tek Team Concept

Warhorse

Devout Dirtbag
I figured this gorgeous bike is worth posting up here as there aren’t too many documented on the web. Despite living in Vancouver I wasn’t really aware of handbuilt steel Rektek’s from this era, only the titanium model.

I bought it from the original owner, incredibly fun and lively ride. I was honestly surprised by the unique handle and feel of this bike being accustomed with quite a few other similar era bikes.

I haven’t done much to it, swapped the bars as the original Syncros were cut to 39cm, swapped out the saddle, tires and pedals. I know these may not be 100% correct to era, etc. But they serve the purpose I had in mind for this bike and the riding I am using it for…

Paint by Rich and the original owner requested no decals so as not to distract from the ffanstastic work that was done.

Figured I should include these pages of the original order sheets, and perhaps mention the frame was crafted by Chris Dekerf. Enjoy, I sure do!

Very very cool - thanks for sharing 😎

That looks mint! Bought those tires for the wife´s bike, they do make sense for the terrain most retro bikes will see. Surprisingly comfy and grippy. Also: 39cm bars, what were we thinking back then?! Nice swap, the new ones look like ti?

Nice rare beast. Glad to see it on here :)

This one is mostly serving as a fast fun, around town ride. Though the more I ride it I do want to go do some trails with it… it’s a blast!
I’ve been led to believe these bars are titanium Titec Flat Tracker bars, I think they’re an excellent shape and would snag another pair for sure if I could find them!
Thanks for all the kind words regarding the bike everyone, I feel pretty luckily to have found it!
