Re: My 1990 Red Bull Marone Kampfmaschine
Back in 1990 while in Austria I got my third Mountain Bike (replacing a Kettler) - which was a Marone Kampfmaschine, built in Salzburg by Marone. I got it through my brother who was racing on the Red Bull Mountain Bike Racing Team in those years, together with Gerhard Zarobilek. I had taken this bike on many excursions in the Alps and kept it over all these years, lately abandoned in a garden shed. I decided to inject some new life into this beauty and build it up again. I completely stripped the frame and had it custom painted in the original Red Bull Racing Team colours by Toxic Design Lab, Richmond BC (Canada) - http://www.toxikdesignlab.com/.
Original parts are front and rear breaks (Shimano Deore XT), brake and shift levers (Shimano Deore XTR), front and rear derrailleur (Shimano Deore DX); I replaced all other components incl. newly built wheels (26"), saddle, saddle post, hubs, and a newly painted 1" headtube chrome moly rigid fork (which was difficult to find). Red Bull decals ordered from Thailand.
26 years young with a breath of new life. It's going to be my City Bike.
