Always fancied a 1990 Marin so just picked this up off ebay. Seems to be in quite original nick with the pedals, tyres, seat + post and bar ends being the only obvious later additions.

It's not mint but has a lovely 20 year old patina and is far from tired. Seems to have led a fairly easy life. The zolatone has some chips and flat spots but overall is presentable. The bright red forks, bar and stem have faded a bit but still glow 8)

Not sure what to do with it yet but first off will be a new seat + post and some amberwalls. Might need to replace the stem if I keep it because the bike feels a touch shorter then my Clockwork so may be a bit small. We'll see :D

Very nice :D
Don't be to hasty with the seatpost, i think they are 29.6 and rather tricky to find. I had a 30mm one turned down on a lathe for my 'very long term project'.
Will look even better with amberwalls 8)
Nice find.

Cheers mate. Didn't know that about the post. Original spec was black so may be even harder to find  I'll have to see what the good people of retrobike can come up with.

Will put some better pictures up when I've cleaned it and tinkered a bit. 8)

i had one of those edd
a really nice bike to ride
looks a nice wee project for you

i think i also turned a post down for it

My understanding is that the tubing was custom sizes for Marin, hence the odd labels.
The brochures always had something about "Tange Custom Tubing" - now that might have been PR puff, but the sizes always seemed odd - like the seatpost!

.

I think there are Deore DX posts about for them in black, but not cheap, hence me making one :D
Could make another one if you are desperate

Very nice. Know you have been after one for a while so gladd you got such a looker. Doesnt look too battle scaarred at all.
