Picked this up a few days ago

It was so cute I just had to have it,

1990 Kona Lavadome
Red non splatter colourway
Suntour X-1 groupset
Black araya rims

such a nice day I started to give it a clean in the garden.

Plan is a mild spruce up, a good clean and touch up where needed, replace the rear tyre to an old amberwall to match the front, new brake pads, replace those quill road pedals and wider bars....

Its a nice bike, always wanted the yellow splatter but the red is lovely

New pads fitted, and put an old ground control ambewall on the back

yup,

front wheel had serious spoke rust so until I can replace the spokes Ill have to use an alternative.

Bit of Tcut polishing time....

I've always found that the early Kona paint responds well to a good tcut and polish it just seems to come back to life again.
It's not a very good photo of it but the paint on my old one was like yours and ended up like that, looking forward to following this build.

Nice to see a few others popping up, I wonder why they didnt go splatter on these?....... Maybe I should go homemade splatter :?:

Anyhoo, replacement front wheel for now is ths wolber AT18 on exage hub, it'll do the job until I can re-lace the original.
