199? Clockwork.

I would be worried about the lumpy rust, had a rockhopper with a lumpy chainstay, scraped away the paint and like Swiss cheese!

Yes, the sleeved seat tube and the curved shape at the top of it are in the 1993 style, although I think the colour scheme is more commonly found on 1994 bikes, including on C16Rs. So I suppose it could be that the frame was built in 1993, but not painted and sold until the following year.
The Clockwork/C16R was always a top-quality ride, far beyond its price, and well worth a sympathetic restoration.

Restore mate the 2 best riders i have are oranges i just aquied a c16 frame so be watching yours brockkander what do you mean by name change in 94 to c16 what were they before
As crazy as it may seem, they decided Clockwork wasn't much of a name, so they changed it to C16R, same bike otherwise.
I forget now, but could it possibly have been their code word for it - Clockwork, 16th Revision?
