1989 Kona Explosif

High starting price though

Maybe. But it has only done 150 miles from new [allegedly].
£200? You could do a lot worse at Halfords for that kind of money. :D

[EDIT]
On second thoughts, for a "new" 19 year old Explosif, complete with all the correct components and with the Track 2 fork, it's a total bargain at the starting price. Just too big for most people.

I agree with your second thoughts. As it happens, I think Hilts finds his a very rideable bike that he uses a lot and enjoys, but what seems to be missing is any sense of the value of historical significance.

If you had an early Bugatti, say a Brescia, that had only done 150 miles from new (in 1913), it would be pretty useless as a car but I believe it would be worth in excess of half a million pounds. Here we have an early Kona, painted by Paul Brodie, sounds like it's in museum-ready condition, also very useable as a commuter or an xc bike and we all know it might not get a bid at £235.
