Saying i'm going to start having a downsize of the collection and this Blizzard is on the list of ones to go.
I thought i'd do a build thread because i've had an idea for a nice overhaul and the potential new owner gets to see it come together.

Sold loads of those and toughtrax bitd.....good solid bikes...
They made good bikes bitd, this has stood the test of time really well and was looked after by the original owner i bought it off a few years ago.
I've also got the 88 Killi Flyer but that needs some tlc.

Done the first part of the cleaning using GT85 to get the grime off and it's came up looking decent with no nasty surprises, a good solid frame with not alot of paint loss.
Next stage use some cream cleaner and remove the bb and forks to have a look at the threads and headset.

Cream cleaning all done, forks off and bb out which took very little effort coz sometimes they can be a mare lol
Everything looks good to me it's as the original owner said to me that it'd always been looked after.
Next stage is to clean the brake posts and get them shiny again to help the brakes, after that get the polish and get a few coats of that on to get the shine back because the cream cleaner can dull the paint.
I've got an idea for parts just got to find them all again, they will be lying around somewhere lol

Frame and forks all clean and polished and i've decided on what to sit on and hold onto.
Saddle, seatpost and stem came off a 89 Trekker Comp i used to have and the bars are off the 88 Killi Flyer i've got,the wheels are from a 88 Cinneli i had and are Suzue hubbed on Araya rims.
Now for the parts 🤔

Stuck some parts on the Blizzard which i've had lying around, still not sure on the Mountain LX mechs but it would mean you could upgrade to 7 speed in the future because there's plenty room at the rear for a 130 rear hub and the 6 speed Deore shifters have a ghost 7th click.
Brake levers are M732 Deore XT with a Deore front cantilever and a Exage Mountain U-Brake. Shifters are Deore MT60 with Mountain LX mechs.

🤔 Found some black Deore crankarms whilst having a easter clear out I think they could stay but i'll probably switch to silver chainrings. Also i still had the green outer cables off my Firemountain, i think it suits the colour scheme but i've got some new pink outers which i still want to try though.
Still not sure on those Mountain LX mechs especially now i've found some MT60 Deore mechs.

Picked up some projects in the last few days they had some parts on them which gave me an idea for the Blizzard which had ground to a halt.
So i'm starting all over again with the build and making it more modern. One of the bikes had this wheelset with the black Deore LX hubs a quick try to see if the back wheel fits and it went in no problem, so that was it build was back on 😊 Tyres swapped from the other wheels and it looks so much better than before. Always loved the look of the black Deore LX cantilevers so they were nicked off the bike and look perfect. Off the Karakoram i sold recently there was this Deore MT63 u-brake which weirdly had been powder coated black but is just the thing for this build. Gonna go with the black crankarms but have silver chainrings and also some black bottle cage bolts have been fitted.
Happy days 😁
