1988 Miyata Ridge Runner Team

Just picked up this 1988 Miyata Ridge Runner Team.

Great condition, all original parts except unfortunately the fork I think. I'm pretty sure the original fork would have been painted white and had a sweet lugged sloping crown. Wonder what might have happened to the fork since there's no signs of a crash; there's barely a mark on the frame. Full XT kit, chainstay U-brake, Araya RM-20 rims, Nitto bar and stem, even the original Mitsubishi tires.

Feeling slightly guilty to split this beauty up but I got it as a donor bike to put the parts on my '87 Romax; it's mostly the same original spec and vintage. The frame and fork will likely be up for grabs once my pillaging is completed.

I wouldn't feel guilty putting the parts on a Brodie. But it is a cool looking frame and in fantastic condition!

When this bike was listed a month ago for free on Kijiji, I was hoping to pick it up, with the intent to use some of the parts for my 89 Blizzard. But it was gone in a flash!

Thanks for the support Blizz . I'm not feeling too guilty - happy to have found all these parts in one shot and not have to search around. Was just a few blocks from my place too.

I didn't see the free listing! I wonder if it was picked up for free and flipped to me, or if they just realized they could get some money for it and reposted. I can't complain for what I paid for it anyways.

The original free listing was in Royal Oak, Calgary. Oct 17th. It was only up for a few hours. I think I replied about 1/2 hr after the listing...offered some money but didn't get a response.

Probably was flipped to me then since I picked it up in the SW. The seller hiked the price a bit on me too, from his original posting, presumably having gotten a number of responses. Still, can't complain.

Thanks, and good luck with that 89 Blizzard! Wicked bike, looks like it's been quite an undertaking. You've amassed a pretty sweet fleet of RMs there .

Nice. The lugwork on it reminds me of my later vintage Bridgestone MB-2 (1991 or 92). Could it be later? If so the fork would be consistent with my Bridgestone frame.

Dirttorpedo, that doesn't surprise me, I think Bridgestone and Miyata mostly used similarly simple short point lugs across all their bikes around that time. I feel like Bridgestone was more progressive on geometry and specs though. This one's definitely an 88, matches the catalog, and I don't think you'd find a chainstay U-brake later than 88.
