1988 Fisher Prometheus

Something doesnt add up. From 1988 he says, and original equipment from the day it was purchased, yet the parts such as Judy XC and Sram carbon ESP are from the mid 90s.

The frame could be 88 , to me the frame isn't suspension corrected

From the GF.com site :

"1988 Introduction of the Fisher CR-7, a collaboration combining Gary's renowned frame design and Richard Cunningham's expertise at joining aluminum and chrome-moly. Fisher racers, Mike Kloser and Sara Ballantyne win the Iditabike 200 Mile Snow Race in Alaska and the European World Off-road Championships. Bicycle Guide Magazine names the titanium Fisher Prometheus the "Best of 88". Gary is inducted at the inaugural Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in Crested Butte. Riding a tandem with Sara Ballantyne, Gary and Sara win the tandem category and place 13th overall in the 150mile Desert to the Sea race."

I agree with that part, when I saw it late last night I wondered the same, but evidently the 'frameset' did exist in '88, so who knows the full story.

It was the gold plating that first caught my eye!

it's not gold plating..it's poor yellow lighting on silver/titanium bike making it look gold

that's what threw me at first..the seller blames it on taking pics with his camera phone

I know... that was a sarcastic comment on the poor lighting... although it could have been a unique finish!
