1986 Stumpjumper, worth £80?

Hello all,

I've been given the chance to buy a Stumpjumper dated from 1986, i'm not sure that it's age is correct but for this money, £80, can i fail.

Appart from the Frame, the only other part of any note is a very early set of RC31s.

Worth a punt?

It depends on what you mean by fail.

You won't be failing to buy a classic frame at a good price. Like you say, it's not period correct so you're not getting a museum piece.

If it includes the RC31s then you're definitely getting a good deal.

Buy it, look for some proper forks and keep the RC31s for your next project. It gets addictive ....

I recently sold a complete '84 model (except tyres chain and cables) for £225, so £80 is pretty good, depending what the parts are on it. If only the frame is original and the rest is tat then its still a good deal though, the RC31s will fetch a few quid which should help fund the restoration
