Got this some months back and, apart from trully naff graphics, its actually pretty good :D Has 9sp Campag ergo setup which is good, although I will alter the cable stop arrangement.

A pic taken today on local roads in the berluddy rain.....

Anyway - I'm thinking of replacing the double (53/39) Stronglight crankset with a Campag triple (50/40/30) due to hilly routes. Apart from longer axle I'll need triple front mech and, I think but not sure on this, a longer arm rear mech? Would that be the case?

The stock answer is "yes you will need a long arm rear mech" but I have read of some people using the standard or medium arm Campag ones too! I used to run a Xenon long arm on my triple and it shifted very well for a cheap bottom of the range mech. That might have been in part due to the closely spaced 13-23 cassette though.

Why not mimic todays compacts and get fit a 50/32 pair of rings? Maybe max out the freewheel? BTW I like the graphics! :D I reckon take it back to period!
 
If you limit your largest sprocket to 21 or 23 you can run a short mech. But you have to be very precise in determining your chain length. It'll be a close fit (also depending on your largest size of inner ring). In the old days many riders used short mechs with triple chainsets, but that said, a triple chainset usually had a 36 or 34 inner ring.

Nope! Ergos rule in my world :D

Plus i already have an early ish Record triple crank :D
