1982 STUMPY - how easy to get period correct????

Period correct parts

You can pick up bits and pieces reasonably easy compared to other makes with less volume production runs. Might have to mix and max within a couple of years but for that money I would be going for it. But then I do like my Specialized.
Good luck with it.

By the serial number, it is a December 1982 frame so it is technically a 1983 model year bike. If the color is correct, it is probably a Sport model which is less desirable. Those bikes aren't hugely rare so it would likely be smarter to buy a more complete bike. If you didn't care about it being period correct, you could just use spare parts to build it up and have a neat old crusier bike to play around with.

Can we add a bit of geographical context here.

Maybe not particularly rare in the States but in the UK (or I would imagine New Zealand?) they're not exactly common.
