V-brakes on classics like those? are you going mad?

fit some new pads and adjust the straddle cable first (I never had trouble locking/modulating with canti's BITD)

I have actually read a little bit of SB's take on mechanical advantage, but this is a much more thorough resource. Gonna read up and hopefully make the canti's work. Changing the pads is a must since they are probably a decade old and cheap to replace. I hear everyone recommending the kool stops, so I think I'll give 'em a try.

It's definitely an '89 - I bought one of those new in '89. Lovely bike.

You dont need to spend too much on those two beuts. New bottom bracket, chain, cassette, rings, brake pads if needed, other than that keep as they are, they are cool!
