1976 Crustnalgo Super - a project

Kinda done... WooHoo!!

Some minor tinkering left no doubt

These wheels were not in my original plan - I restored and re built the Mavic rims and Record hubs that came with it. But got the wrong tyres  or rather most of the remaining tyres that are half-decent are too big...apart from Baldys. But I bought a pair of those for another bike and I think they are crap. These wheels are lovely though and I like the Blue of the rims with the colour of the frame - so they are staying for now..
IMG_7514.webp Saddle came up quite nice, it still has a bit of patina, which is nice. Some may think I don't like patina, which is not true. MOST of the bikes I buy have lots of patina

Didn't over polish the cranks... refilled all the panto with fresh paint.

The chrome was gone on the top of the fork crown. A fair bit was covered by the painted panto, The rest I used chrome paint. It's OK. Looks good from 6 feet. Although close-up you can see what I have done. I'm happy enough with it though.

I did think about swapping out the headset for a shiny chrome one...but this Colnago one was original. It is champagne coloured, which has faded a little, but I did want to reuse whatever I could that would have originally been on the bike, it cleaned up pretty well and is otherwise in perfect working order with new bearings.

Not exactly NOS, but it works great, unlike a lot of old Campy Derailleurs 😅

gonna try and line these stitching lines up better

(The front wheel is straight...it's just the camera angle)

I actually forgot to repaint the shifters...but will leave them as the look OK.

I really enjoyed restoring what was a crusty old bike, It will be, like all my bikes, a rider, so after I finished lacing up the brakes today I took it for a test ride.

It's lovely!

Finito Benito!!!

Bloody gorgeous Phill! Great rescue and renovation. Great to see it in a rideable condition so it can be enjoyed again as all bikes should be. Shame about the tyres for the original wheels, but so good to see it all come together. Looks like you had some fine weather too, we even saw some round orange glowing thing in the sky in South Wales yesterday (Saturday!) but back to normal later this morning with some proper rain!
