1960 W. F. Holdsworth Hurricane

You must have a posh car ;)

Mine was for 321mm discs, new pads, new fluid and paint the calipers... Quite reasonable I thought but it is only an Astra GTC :)

Really liking this Holdsworth and those original colours sound pretty good.
Are you going to go for the Gold as per original?
Look forward to seeing this progress as it looks a really nice quality frame.
Sorry to hear about your car bill, those things always get in the way of cycle investments :)

Re:

Glacial progress, had to buy a new drill as well.
However managed to drill the rivets out to save the badge... and there’s that metallic green again soo am guessing this might have been part of the colour scheme originally.
And here’s the DT shifter as well.

Re:

Today is painting day. Well, primer at least and maybe the gold first coat. Going to try the gold with off white head, top, down and seat stem. All gold just feels a bit wrong.
Have masking fluid to try on the lug work so we’ll see how it works on the fork first to mask the crown.
Am trying the SprayBike paints this time.

Re:

Well, that wasn’t too bad.
The masking fluid? Totally brilliant, makes lugwork a breeze.
The cream I thought was a bit too strong but has now grown on me. Dry powder coat was a bit weird but it’s polished up ok-ish.
Clearly it’s not a patch on a proper job but the paint and mask cost me £40 so on balance...
Needs a bit of tidying up, but otherwise looks ok, with some of the gold coming through, gives a slightly aged appearance so pretty happy.
Will leave everything to cure and then decals and clear coat tomorrow hopefully.

Re:

Well, all done, just need to let it cure. Bit scrappy but whatever. Have a ruling pen so might have a go at lug lining next. What could possibly go wrong...
