turns out not - apparently custom unbranded paint done by Orange at birth, when the stock colour wasn't green...

That seems extremely strange I must say. My C16R from that year was exactly that colour, aside from silver forks. And why Orange (or actually Bob Jackson Cycles as I understand it) would paint a new bike and put no stickers on it is beyond me to understand.

He said it was a custom job - he went to Orange direct and asked for green with no decals. They're happy to do custom colours from new - I'm sure if you asked nicely they'd be happy to do one without decals. There's no accounting for taste!

Doesn't green with silver forks seem weirder? In the archives here, the 95-96 catalogue has silver frame & silver forks; the 97 catalogue has green frame & green forks.

Anyway, they all still ride the same!

And IMO they ride like a £1,200 bike, not a £120 bike!
