1" threadless headset for Kona?

when I had a early cindercone, the larger frame size bikes had 1 1/8", the smaller ones were 1" I think

If you have a look at Drapoon's Kona, he got the 1" threadless Project 2 forks and got it working with 1" headset, that why I was enquiring about them after getting a message from Kona's headquarters this week that they wont have any more 1 1/8 Project 2 forks for another 2 months!

Now I am getting confused and nervous lol, maybe best bet is to take frame to shop and tell them about 1" headset

drapoons is 100% 1" 1/8th

I used a chris king devolution headset - basically an 1" 1/8th headset with shimmed inners to grab the skinnier tube

Your going to need some frame shims & then you can use any 1" threadless headset or fork out for a devolution


Aspire velotech will supply you a devolution for £70 odd with free delivery.


I'll find a link for the shims if you go down the shim route....think they are made by "problemsolvers"

Guy, I'm taking delivery of a bike in the next few days that has 1 1/8 Project 2s with a very long steerer, and I'm not sure but they may even be the 39cm blade length that your frame was designed for. Subject to checking that they're ok, you could have those cheapish if you want and they'd tide you over until Palligap have the new ones in stock again.
