1" Steerer Issues, Marzocchi Forks

I've had a look at the manuals on the Marzocchi website and I think the Z4s I've got are the '99 model, pretty sure they're not air forks (or at least if they are I have no idea how to pump them up).
The Z4 is a coil spring fork, it was the Z5 that was air-sprung.

The 1" steerer has an alloy shim which can you see in this photo when I had removed the 1-1/8" but had not pushed the replacement 1" all the way home.

Working on zokes of this age is nice and easy - if the rebound is slow perhaps a change of oil is all that's needed? The oil gets gungy after a few years - the paint on the springs flakes off and makes the oil thick, I got new springs cheap from CRC last year and had to change the oil after a few weeks when it went black and gooey.

Okay, I've decided to try and fix the forks I have at the moment, or at least to change the oil and see if that's enough.

Only problem is I'm struggling to find any information on what kind of oil to use and where I can get it from. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Marzocchi has all the instructions back to the year dot on their website.

I also have another booklet covering a lot of forks with recommended springs/weights and whatnots, unfortunately I found it searching the web at work and printed it out. I don't have the link with me but will do a search.

EDIT:
not the one I was thinking of but there are loads here as well.
