1" quill stem for Orange C16-R

Retro Newbie
Hello, I've had my Orange C-16R since 1996 (and only just discovered it's now considered retro).

I'm looking for a shorter stem than the 130mm SK8 that is currently on the bike, but I'm a bit confused about the size I need.

I have a scribbled note from the bike shop that says 1" quill, and 25.4 bar clamp, which is clear enough.

But it also says "27.0mm or 26.8mm". I can't find any reference to these measurements and I don't know what they refer to.

Can anyone suggest a suitable stem? Maybe 90/100 mm?

The 27.0/26.8 is the seat post size Im guessing. Nice 1" stems do pop up now and then, I have a black uno one in my Prestige for the time being. If you find something suitable and want to sell yours let me know.

That stems horrid. My black one is more paletable than that. Those that mooster has are very nice I have one of those aswell but without the rubber stem cap. You have a nice bike so please dont put an ugly stem in it.

If you have the existing stem, I've got a 120mm ti finish sk8 stem. The only reason I mention the existing stem is that whilst mine is in great condition in the main, the stem plug/bolt retainer at the top has had the chrome chipped off, making an otherwise very nice stem a little bit ugly in that area. It still works, just if you have the same stem, you could swap this bit over.

I bought this off eBay recently and this wasn't mentioned, it was also sold as a ti stem, which it isn't, and whilst it didn't sell for top end ti money, it set me back a bit, but I'm happy to cut my losses and sell it for £15 posted.

Aside from the stem plug/bolt retainer, it is in great shape, none of the bolt heads even have rust and they seem to be original.

If you are interested, let me know and I can send some pics your way.
