£115 uk customs charge!

Yeh not only that but its already taken 7 weeks to get to customs heaven! Think I may have to have a customs style parts sale to pay for it

following our recent 'issues' they should club in with royal mail.....set up a retro shop!!......

Sadly I think its right. Same happened to me, won a set of noleen carbon crosslinks on eBay and whilst I think I paid around the £300 mark, they charged me vat and import duty on £600 as that was what the seller put on the insurance value. Oh, and postage was also taxed. I did complain, and if you think it is wrong, you can fill in about seven forms and hope they listen to your plea for sensibility.

Worse one was a shock I sent to the states for a service, I got charged quite a hefty amount for importing my own property back in to the UK, as its condition had been altered by the service so left an opportunity for money to be screwed from me.

I have a contact in the states now so hopefully won't experience this highway robbery in the futre.

I know the goverment is desperate for cash but so am I but don't go out and rob people.

I have been stung before. A heated seat switch swap with a guy in the states. He put an insurance value of $40 on it. I got charged £11 customs  I refused to pay and had the packet sent back to sender and paid him again for postage but with no value this time. I then got it without a customs charge.

I really object to paying customs duty.
