Read a thread in an automotive forum about mechanic replacing an engine in a DB9. Apparently not in warranty, engine running like a bag of bolts with a serious case of the DTs, and a whole load of shaking and knocking going on.

From what was written, the engine had been run dry of oil, and 7 litres of the stuff didn't make it run any better. Owner obviously hadn't checked. Is that a case of the rich and shameless being oblivious or deliberately out-of-touch to reaffirm their elitism, or somebody over extended and couldn't afford to maintain it?

A new block? 15k of your finest pounds, sterling, apparently. Presumably labour on top of that.

Well the rich are getting richer & the poor are getting poorer. So why maintain when you can just buy anther or pay to get it fixed.
I bet the owner of that Aston didn't even know were the engine was.

How freaking much!!!

I cant shift my reconditions roberts fro £500! maybe i shoudl ask them to sell it for me.

Think i'll get some Zonda decals. As it will match some ones carbon Pagani Zonda. How much will the owner of a £500,000 super car pay for a matching carbon mtb?? £15K??

A mate of mine worked at Harwoods, who sell AMs, Land Rover, Bentley etc... The mind boggles at the f*ckwittedness of some people - booking it in to get the time changed on the clock?!? Also know of a very similar thing as to what you described - a lady with a brand new Disco, never had it serviced, never checked anything, just put fuel in.......written off in something like 3 years when the engine ate itself.... some people don't deserve the nicer things in life!!!!
