1997 GT Zaskar Le. In the proses of cleaning and adding some new parts. That’s not the stem and seatpost that’s staying on. Was trying the stem to get the right degrees I need. -6 for me. Ive got a thing that the stem has to be the same angle as the top tube 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’m right though 🤭.

Fixed. Took the 26.8 seat post out. Removed the seatclamp bolt. Got a flat screwdriver and simply slipped it in the gap, and put a slight bit of a twist pressure (could barely see any movement. Grabbed the 27.2 seatpost………… went in absolutely perfectly 🥳.

I was thinking this. My dad had it from new. So maybe he’s put a 26.8 seat post in and closed the seat stem gap up tightening it. Is there maybe a safe way to ease it back open ?.

Been looking at the 400s. 27.2 don’t fit my Zaskar though. Think it’s 27mm

98 GT Zaskar LE seatpost size

Got my dad’s old gt Zaskar Le. The seat-post is too short for me. He had cut it down so no size on the post. I tried a 27.2 and it’s to tight. So I measured his post with a caliper, and it comes up as 26.8 🤷🏻‍♂️. No where online do they mention a Zaskar ever being that size. 2 days ago I...

G10 by Farecla. Can use water with it. If using a mop with compound on paint go fairly slow. Have to be honest I have no idea with anodising. I would imagine anodising is a very very thin layer. Not like lacquer on cars which is quite thick (thicker than the paint).

Seat stay is how it was. Head tube is after 1 minute of rubbing.

It’s 3m. Hand glaze is more of a polish really. If I was using 3G then yeh, use water. I lied by the way 😆 (didn’t mean to) it’s g10 I used.

I’ve always preferred a slightly small frame. Probably not now I’m old 🤭. Think I need 35cm post…. On eBay I go 😆

I’m exactly 5ft 10 😊. I used to have a Zaskar le of my own as well (a 1994 model) that was a 16” as well.

Seat post is about an inch below the top tube. Would it need to be past the triple triangle weld ?. Or is that enough.

It’s only ever been ridden on road. He was never an off roader. He would have had a road bike. But he had a bad back so stuck to mountain bikes. I’ve just had a good look though 👍🏻.

Thanks for the advice mate. I will wash it tomorrow and start working on it. Tyres are inflated now and all good. Tried some car hand glaze on it (used to valet and mop cars). And it was like glass almost instantly.
