    Leica Cameras

One laying around here that works, got it at a local junk-shop for $20, and that is the most I have ever paid for any Leica.

    Harley's

A Harley I used to have around here, was fun to ride. Put some lights and a brake on it and rode it on the street for a while too. Cops gave me a ticket.

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

The after-after photo. I swapped in a different seatpost and stem to make the bike more comfortable for me, so I would not be stretched out on it like I was on the rack in the Spanish Inquisition.

    A nice bit of sculpture.....

My method for acquiring bicycles is they have to be local and cheap, so I end up with whatever pops up for sale near my home, is my size, and inexpensive. But now I am out of space pretty much for any more bikes so will put the blinders on so will not be tempted to get anymore. Does not always...

    A nice bit of sculpture.....

Checked my average speed over 20K with this bike and was able to hold a 22.1mph average, so it is a fast bike for me.

    A nice bit of sculpture.....

Went for a 45 mile ride on this bike today with my 60-something year-old butt, and it made me feel younger for a while. A bit of a rough ride with all of that old carbon under me, but it sure seemed fast. I went by radar speed signs on the side of the road twice once when I was fresh and once...

    A nice bit of sculpture.....

Yes, that is what they made those seatposts for. I like riding with it, but it is a little short for me. A full length post will not fit down into this frame, so it is short. I will have to get another one and cut it to a longer length than this one so the bike fits me better.

    A nice bit of sculpture.....

This was hanging in a widow's basement local to me for a few decades, tires were dry-rotted etc. She was very happy to see I got it back on the road recently. From 1989, one of the first carbon road bikes, made in the USA, sporting some of the first popular carbon wheels, also made in the USA. A...

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

Well, I took it all apart and put it back together and took another photo of it, and it looks pretty much the same. The "Italia" seat is off an old Motobecane I used to have which was about the same year as this bike, and I put Velox black cotton bar tape on the bike. Also got rid of the...

    High-End Panasonic

Some POS cheapo road bike saddle from the 70s that was in a junk-box in my garden shed, because someone had stuck some five-pound gel seat on the bike which I threw in the trash as fast as I could. I will look around for a Selle SanMarco, what it supposedly was equipped with new.

    High-End Panasonic

From a local second-hand venue, a Columbus SP/SL framed, Suntour Superb equipped Panasonic sold in the USA under the Schwinn brand. Has sew-ups, Cinelli bars and stem, and Gran Comp brakes. Aired up the old rotting sew-ups and took it for a ride of several miles gingerly just to feel what it...

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

Having trouble finding a bottom bracket for the bike to replace it's pitted one. This is because it's cranks take an "ISO" tapered BB, which are not laying around in junk-piles where I am compared to the "JIS" bottom brackets. I have heard that all good things come to those who wait though, and...

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

The frame is about 25 inches from BB up to top of seat tube. The 1979 catalog shows this model with Gran Comp 500 brakes and levers, this bike was put together late in '80, so I am guessing it did too, also the catalog lists a 25.5" frame size. Looking at old catalogs I think the entire bike is...

    The Toaster

One of the reasons for the switch to the "aero" front wheel is my traditional front wheel was making noise, and when I pulled it's axle out I saw it's bearing cones were pitted. It had grease in, but maybe just from stress the surface broke down. So while I am looking for some new bearing cones...

    The Toaster

Have almost 6000 miles on this bike now. Found an "aero" but heavy alloy rim in the skip behind a bike shop and laced it to one of those cheap Belgian made big-flange front hubs because it was about the same diameter as the rear hub that was in the rim when I found it. Also went to a 15t rear...

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

I have seen the date codes on many old bicycles and parts over the years. This bike has a seat-post and cranks marked 1978, but I see the rear Sunshine hub is marked 5-80. So it very well could be a 1981 bike if they had not gone to ten speeds in that year. The best resource I have found for old...

Thanks for the info about Miki, I will look into that. Am looking forward to putting this back together with care and riding it.

    A less-common Japanese road bike....

Where I am in the USA some businessmen sold bicycles under the name "Centurion", which they had made to their specs in Japan. Recently at a second-hand shop I took a look at this bike and brought it home. I believe it is from the late 70s or 1980 at the latest. It was the top of the line model...
