Totally agree, I think this one will be a keeper (Mind you I've said that about all of them 😆) Todays ride was a mix of road, gravel, and single track (not the rough stuff) It handled it all nicely. I suspect I will continue to tinker with this one - already thinking about some different wheels 😄

    Huuuge stem!

You could catch a fish with that!

Front derailleur clamp arrived this morning - so was finally able to take this one out for a ride. Really enjoyable - quite an aggressive ride, but smooth. Highly recommend these Dia Compe CR-X Cantis

Falling off matters, but getting back on is what counts. Kudos!!

A bit more progress on this build. Waiting for the front derailleur braze-on adapter to arrive. Almost got the stickers off the wheels, just a few stubborn ones remain About to balance up the cantis - these are nicely made and the barrel adjuster is a great idea. The Jitensha Bar didn't work...

Bike parts sale Reading June 1st

They are a great outfit... I got my Dave Russell frameset from them.

That's lovely, especially those forks and seat stays. No idea on value really, but this is likely to attract collectors...and for rare/unusual bikes, I think value holds, but sale time has lengthened as the market is really quite small in relation.

Fillet brazed off road adventure bike of unknown origin.

Fab! I'm glad someone on Retrobike bought this (Although I'm not sure who else would 😄 ) This is exactly the kind of unknown frame I love to buy, but it was too big for me, and every time I looked at it, it and my legs were the same size 😉. My money was on a Roberts...but Overburys was running...

Can Anyone Help ID This GT Custom Butted 7005 Frame?

If you have any photos, that could help, if it is painted, or not, many models had paint style of finish per year which could help ID, or narrow it down. Plus the cable mounts and welds can help too!

    Any idea’s what this is?

Alas, I did not. Not a thing I can confirm it has a 25mm steerer with French threading though Also top and Seat tube diameter is 26mm and Down tube 28mm

    Any idea’s what this is?

Yes mine is exactly like this - I noticed the step in the axle. The hubs are a later addition to the bike than the frame and are probably 1940's or later. I thought it might have been a bodge to facilitate the narrower OLD...but seems they are meant to be like this :-) Thanks for the info!

    Quill stems

I'm a sucker for a Pantographed stem (or pantographed anything really 😄 )

    Any idea’s what this is?

So, I stripped the paint off over the weekend ( I usually keep what I can of the original paint, but...there was nothing really to keep, it is going to get a respray...). These revealed a few interesting things. A filled in dent on the top tube, a small hole in one of the chain stays - which I...

Yes!, I recently rebuilt a 1965 Roberts with cantis -which I love, so when I spotted this one, it was a no brainer!!

    Today's Ride

I've been out for a few short rides lately, but most of my spare time has been spent getting my shed up and running. With that now pretty much done, and a breezy, but sunny Sunday evening, I jumped on my Hobbs and took it out. I've recently replaced the rear cog for something a couple of teeth...

Almost got the stickers off the wheels, but have run out of the Goo Gone. (Hurry Up Amazon!) Put the Ultegra 6600 bits on. Derailleur looks silver in the photo, but it is actually dark Grey like the crank... Fitted some Dia Compe Cantis which look lovely. Also had these Nitto Jitensha bars in...
