My 126mm axle is for a 73mm shell 😣. It’s not the chainring bolts - the biopace is recessed as the chainring is thicker and the machined teary are on the outside of the ring (I.e. it has a lip on the outside).
Checked the biopace crankset the bike came with vs the one I picked up and the bolts are recessed vs the one I am installing - might take the rings off and look more closely.
OK - so a little time again this weekend - I took the crank off and the axle is 122.5mm. I don’t think I overtightened - I think it’s normally ~30Nm torque (40Nm for those with the lever/guns for it) for a square taper BB. This puts me on the frame. Thoughts? I have a 126mm axle available…
Unlike asbestos I think CF can be better controlled and disposed of. Have you ever seen the old videos of people working in asbestos mines? Regulations may make it more costly to work with CF, but that doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Hi - anyone know what to look for for a Xtr M970 direct mount front mech adapter? It doesn’t look “standard” when I eye ball the mech…so figure something fancy might be needed? 7Speed
Looks like I need another 5mm or so on the axle...I did go a bit over the torque range of 15-17 Nm I found on the Net as I didn't notice I had forgotten to adjust the wrench....but I wasn't leaning on it using a scaffolding pole either...so I am assuming its an axle length issue?
But I seem to have mucked up on the BB axle length. I measured the old BB and just grabbed a new one of eBay, but the new chainset I put on (same M730 but with nice round rings vs biopace) needs a wider BB. No idea what I did wrong here...thoughts very welcome.
So...the good - Bottom bracket in and fitted a few bits to the frame to get an idea of how it would look....which I am feeling good about. Thanks to @jwh8876 for the Flite saddle and @ceo for the canti brake booster.
