    Replacing chain

A 6 speed set up is hardly at the leading technological edge of things and I would put the "chamfering" down in the marketing BS category, although I have no personal experience and am just guessing. :D

    Replacing chain

KMC are good chains and there are a lot of fake Shimano chains around so be careful. Yes you can just take 2 links out if you need to, but check how it all looks when you put the chain on before taking links out. You might not need to. Good luck with the rebuild.

    Today's Ride

Just a quick shopping trip into the Saturday market for some fruit and veg. I had a choice to make, it was between two Konas...both aluminium frames, both drop bar bikes...what could they be? It's the Kula vs the JTS. Easton tubes or Kona Racelight 7005 The Blue won out over the Green...

Some Retrobikes passing through Bikeworkshop in Bristol

For some strange reason a month ago I had two of these, as well as my Dawes Nomad which is pretty much the same bike. All the same combination of lugged Reynolds steel and all with some strange 1980s colour scheme thing going on. Here was the little brother of the purple one. I passed that one...

Nice looking bike, you've done well and learned some good things in the process by the sound of it. Tange is the way to go with headset for 80s road bikes IMHO EDIT: Great minds... :D

    Today's Ride

Just finished the 2006 Zaskar Team and thought it needed a good try out, so I went for a climb on some sunken lanes at the back of mine. Here is the finished article, I am calling the look, "distressed". The single track stages were a little overgrown, becoming more three quarter tracks and...

Sorry I just realised maybe this Zaskar is not old enough to be here. Can I move it?

This one might be controversial. I have taken off the black paint that was covering this and I have flatted everything down with 1000 grade wet and dry and t-cut and waxed the frame and I am going to build it back as is.

One out, one in. Look what you can find at your local recycling centre. Picked up this 94 Outpost yesterday for a tenner. This is already spoken for by a contact in London who strips these down and rebuilds as single speeds, with the obligatory front basket! I really love the ovalisation of the...

This was the final version of the GT Tequesta before I passed it on to the young hipster boyfriend of my daughters best friend. He has just bought his first house with his girlfriend and has an allotment about a mile away so needed the basket to take home his produce. :D

    Today's Ride

Left the comfort of my armchair to have a quick ride around the water meadows now the heavy thunder showers seem to have abated. The sky still looked quite angry. I swapped one confy armchair for another though With the massive tyres and the spung Brooks B67 I wafted along. The good old...
