My own personal opinion is, I get a lot more excited seeing a well done period restore of a high end model with hard to find parts, than a midrange frame done up in non era rider components. Doesn't take away from the lower end builders joy or effort in in the actual assembly of the bike. There...

LD stem. A lot. Hardest part to find. Proper bar/stem for an early Mtn Goat Deluxe.

The effort to do this would take more than a lifetime of cable servicing and it would look ugly.

I like the shift pods. Actually had this setup on a Ritchey a few years ago. I think it would be tougher if one had smaller hands though. My XXL mitts can get the pods through their range of motion easily. I do have a 1 X 10 dirt drop setup on my Willits and use a bar end shifter to make it...
