BoTM Bike of The Month February 2023 - repaints special

Ductape's 1983 Ritchey Competition. Build thread: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/ritchey-competition-1983.286027/ I found this classic 1983 Ritchey with a horrible bass boat black and silver backyard paint job. Took the time to paint the bike and find the era correct missing components...

Have you suffered abuse for riding a retro?

My bike abuses the heck out of me sometimes when trying to keep up with the group on their modern rides.

1991 Otis Guy fillet brazed #138

Re: 1991 Otis Guy fillet brazed Lots of effort displayed. Fantastic project.

    Why Catalogue Spec?

My own personal opinion is, I get a lot more excited seeing a well done period restore of a high end model with hard to find parts, than a midrange frame done up in non era rider components. Doesn't take away from the lower end builders joy or effort in in the actual assembly of the bike. There...

    Riding your bike in February.

Yes. A few filthy bikes in the garage.

    Why Catalogue Spec?

Re: I like a nice catalog restoration. Appreciate the effort that goes into it.

Most paid for that illusive part?

LD stem. A lot. Hardest part to find. Proper bar/stem for an early Mtn Goat Deluxe.

Re: $500 USD plus shipping PP gift for a bikes worth. I will throw in a set of DKG brake boosters. All hardware. Black. Not negotiable on price, so if you want them, come and get them, if just looking for a deal, I understand, then, no need to contact me.

No RM bling, but I can probably rustle up something vintage.

NOS 1986 Fillet Brazed Serotta Adirondack DONE - 01/29/18

Re: Re: So possibly M730/DA. I have a DA FD on my tandem with a triple and have never had issues getting all three rings. DA hubs to go with the FD? Whatever direction, very cool.

NOS 1986 Fillet Brazed Serotta Adirondack DONE - 01/29/18

Re: NOS 1986 Fillet Brazed Serotta Adirondack I like it. Very unique and I appreciate your patience in gathering the right bits. What year was the Bonty curved blade available? I would base my build around that.

Cutting a slot in an 80s cable guide?

The effort to do this would take more than a lifetime of cable servicing and it would look ugly.

    Salsa Custom

I like the shift pods. Actually had this setup on a Ritchey a few years ago. I think it would be tougher if one had smaller hands though. My XXL mitts can get the pods through their range of motion easily. I do have a 1 X 10 dirt drop setup on my Willits and use a bar end shifter to make it...

    American Breezer 1987 #0003

Because I need a set for a frame also. Well played! That looks fantastic! Yes first versions riveted, then braze ons, then welded. I have at least one of each.
