Long bolt to go from the back of the small chain ring into the RH crank arm. Where to get this?

Hi All I am not sure if this is the correct part of the forum but I hope so. I am servicing a bike with 2010 Campy Athena Polished Ally Groupo and it turns out that the special long chain-ring bolt (the other 4 are "standard") which goes in from the inside face of the small chain-ring is...

    Dawes Galaxy 1977?

Hi all I've got hold of a 70s Dawes Galaxy but not sure which year. Serial ends in a 7 which may be 1977? It has cotter pin crank, post-75 headbadge. The lugs are a little fancy. Centrepull brakes and no brazed on RD hanger. Opinions please. Thank you Matty

My 1978 Super Mondia is reborn!

Re: Thanks all. It's not my drive or fence. The decals look right to me from photos I've seen. That's how they cane from Serbia via fleabay which was the only set I could find anywhere. Matty

My 1978 Super Mondia is reborn!

I purchased a mostly-complete but very ugly 1978 Super Mondia about 5 years ago and have ridden a few hundred miles on her always with a view to one day doing as best a restoration as I could given limited funds. I stripped and cleaned everything and had the frame dipped last year then...

    Tange 9H forks 1" threaded

Re: Thanks for the replies. 900g is defo not 531 or equivalent for sure. I need some other better forks for my lovely 1978 Super Mondia. Matty

    Tange 9H forks 1" threaded

Can anyone tell me the quality of the Tange 9H forks? I've just stripped my 1978 Super Mondia down for a refinish and the forks (which I knew were not original) are the above. The forks have a 190mm steering tube and weigh just a little under 900g The dropouts are stamped "TANGE TRA" or it...

Mavic MA40 and ALESA similar rim

Dear All I have an old Raleigh with mismatched rims but they look similar. The Rear is a Mavic MA40 The Front is a similar looking "hard anodised" rim but is ALESA with pink writing on but no model number. It looks more "blue" than the grey Mavic. Could anyone enlighten me as to the model...

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

Re: Re: Thanks. Yes I read about these differences fairly recently. 27.2 is then the "theoretical diameter in most cases" in a sense. I would love to know what this bike was originally but it seems it will remain a mystery. Cheers Matty

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

I'm now fairly convinced that this is a refinished "Team Corsa 12"... but... did that model have the "pip" on the rear of the head tube? So many questions ;) Matty

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

Re: I also note the rear stay to seat tube attachment is like the 653-framed "Record Ace Moderne" I used to have... The way the stays are attached on the 501 Kelloggs is far more "rough and ready" without what appear to be the little tear-drop shaped "covers" at the top of the stays. Matty

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

Re: I have a late 80s Kelloggs which is 501 tubing and the lugs on that are far "chunkier" than these. The seat post is 27.0 mm by the way which may be a clue? I know the 531 standard is 27.2 mm Thanks Matty :)

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

Re: Re: Thanks. I thought Worksop closed in 1981 though and the "W" was transferred and retained at Nottingham for a while... Matty :)

    Unknown 80s (?) Raleigh

Hello all. I've got hold of this today and I'm just wondering what the frame is. Cannot properly see the serial number through the paint but it's "WR 600" or similar. Nottingham November 1986 perhaps? I think the paint is original but it may not be at all... are the "501" decals original...

Raleigh lightweight 531 main tubes only frames

Re: I don't really think they ride that differently. There is a weight difference but IMO this is not significant especially after a big fried breakfast - and I'm not racing after all. It's clearly very nice to have the "531 butted tubes, forks and stays" legend on a bike; as you know you are...

Raleigh lightweight 531 main tubes only frames

Re: Sounds like a good fit. I'm guessing you'll be on about a 55 cm saddle tip to bar centre length there which should be about right. difficult sometimes to get the quill on the bars high enough on these old frames but if you can get saddle top to bar top at about 6 to 7cm drop you should...
