    Kona Explosif 1994 value?

Cheers. I'll see how I'll handle it during the summer, lots of stuff up in the air at the moment. It's certainly too good to be stacked away in my cellar though!

    Kona Explosif 1994 value?

It's unstuck, sodium hydroxide down the inside did the trick! If anything, you've just talked your way into a sales tax! Seriously though, thanks, that's good to know. I'm not in the U.K and probably won't be able to get that kind of money here, but at least a few hundred quid wouldn't be...

    Kona Explosif 1994 value?

I'm not at home so can't take any fresh pics right now, but I have a 1994 Kona Explosif project that I haven't really worked at in more than a year, so should probably looking at moving it on. All original apart from pedals, shifters (replaced with Deore DX), seatpost, and grips, and the...

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

A bit of a shot in the dark, but I'm in need of help regarding some hi-fi gear. I found what seems to be an Empire MC-5M cartridge (secure in it's original packaging, albeit used) when going through a bunch of old hi-fi stuff that I'm about to sell, but I can't find much reliable info about it...

    Old Specialized FutureShock suspension forks?

Re: Re: Thanks! I'll throw them into a future clearout thread and see how things turn out.

    Old Specialized FutureShock suspension forks?

I know about as much about old suspension forks and the general interest in them as I know about the mating habits of cheetahs, but I pulled these off an old Stumpjumper and they still seem to be working. Is it a sellable asset or just junk at this point?

    Rust Removal Advice needed...

Thanks for the advice. It's a Cross Check, I've always wanted one but every time I've been close the deal has fallen through for some reason. We'll see where this one ends up, I've asked for some closer pictures and can hopefully make a decision based on them.

    Rust Removal Advice needed...

Resurrecting an old thread with a related question: I'm currently looking at a steel frame, but the pictures show some rust spots around the seat tube. Rust isn't my area of expertise and I don't have any way of looking at in person; does this look like something that might become a big problem...

    1994 Kona Explosif

The world's slowest project creeps on, and keeps hitting brick walls. I was about to remove the Specialized suspension forks, got the big screw from the stem out, but the stem won't budge even after it's gone. The headset does screw off smoothly though, to the point where it meets the protruding...

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

I see. Frustrating that I must either have fumbled the hex screw away at some point (the counterweight did thread on just fine before I removed it completely after all) or never got it in the first place. I'll just try to get a new one at the hardware store and start again. I had a look at the...

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

Re: Thanks for all the replies, I'll read through them more carefully once my eyes aren't badgering me about going to sleep rather than staring at a computer screen. Anyway, here's the tone arm: ...and here's the counter weight. Notice how the tiny rod (inside the inner circle) lies just...

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

A bit of a shot in the dark, but trying this question here: I'm trying to set up the tonearm on a Rega Planar 2 (the 70's model with a green logo), and when fiddling with the counterweight I threaded it all the way off the back of the tonearm. Problem is, it won't thread back onto the plastic...

the unofficially cool MTB drop bar thread

I'm in preparations for putting another drop bar MTB together, can I use any old road-style brake levers if I plan on using the original cantilever brakes? I think I did last time I built one, and that worked fine, but I guess I might have lucked out and used ones specifically made for canti-brakes.

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

Thanks for the advice on the turntables, sadly both deals fell through for various reasons. I've been offered a Lenco L75 in good working condition instead, with the caveat that the small gray arm that you manually lift the cartridge and tonearm with is missing. Is that a serious problem, or can...
