xt 732 rear mech cable tensioner bolt

Hi, I managed to strip the thread on the cable tension bolt on my xt732 rear mech yesterday. The bolt is seated in the mech with a square section base, onto which you screw the nut to tension the gear cable. Any body got a spare one or a knackered mech with a functioning bolt? Thanks, Sam

    Upgrading brakes?

As I think about swapping from my all weater mtb commuter to my champion mondial as the weather gets better (optomistic). I rode it today and really noticed HOW much worse the 1978ish brakes are, compared to the vbrakes. I thought, "this is a bit daft: father of 2 rolling around with 30 year old...

FS COMPONENTS CLEARANCE (A) ROAD & MTB FURTHER REDUCTION

Hi If it was not too much trouble, could you perhaps measure hte vertical distance from the central frame attacher bolt to the top and bottom of the brake pad holder areas? Then I could see if they fit... Thanks, Sam

FS COMPONENTS CLEARANCE (A) ROAD & MTB FURTHER REDUCTION

quite fancy those ultegra calipers, but first a lame question: If I have a 650c champion mondial (1978ish) but fancy better brakes, will these calipers fit? or will they be only working on modern 700c bikes??

Well I think it safe to say that you have the best Cockpit on Retrobike... Parhaps the only analogue speedo in existance in this realm.

    Diamond in the rough..

It does seem highly unlikely that anybody knows who owns the bike, it really has been sitting there for a long time. I have been thinking about, cough, creative ways to take ownership but it can't be done. Not by me anyway. Murder, Rape, Bike Theft etc are not really things I am comfortable...

    Diamond in the rough..

Well, it had crossed my mind that offering money for the bike might encourage somebody to declare possession one way or another, but so far it hasn't happened.. I think the frame is in ok nick though the rest is totally shagged.

    Diamond in the rough..

Cycling through town the other day my eye was caught by a bike parked up by a tree. A super nice bike sat rotting out in the street. The solid chain, airless tyres and weeds growing up through the wheels indicate it ain't been loved in quite a while...There would be a law against...

    My Trek 950 singletrack

I've still got the 930 I bought in '92 ish. True Temper tubes and that. Don't think its that light but I always loved it. Its a more honest love if it ain't a 'cool' brand.

Top pull / Bottom pull mech.. which is which?

If you did have the cable stop widget around I would be interested. I was thinking "I'm going to have to find one of those cable stop widgets from somewhere" and you might be able to save the day..
