    TV licence

I recently bought a TV/monitor and I don't have a licence. I also live in a converted Victorian house and each flat has to have a licence. The TV Licensing people wrote to me a few weeks later asking why I didn't have a licence and I told them it was for my PC and not for watching TV. They...

Silly question - ahead stem on threaded fork

You still have the problem of the thinner tube wall on the threaded forks though......

    NOS Pedersen SE cantis

I've got a set of these. They're the Tektro made ones but still unusual.

    Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!

I'll have to have a look for this Stag chilli. Never really buy canned stuff like that. I'll see how long it takes me to eat a can of it. 8)

    Bearings for Avid Ultimate levers?

If they're standard cartridge bearings they should just press out. Then you can take the bearing to your local bearing supplier, who should be able to measure it up for a replacement.

Is everyone absolutely sure that they're not thingamabobs? :?

    brake boosters

We sold these bitd. They're called Rock Lizard iIrc. Nothing to do with Lizard Skins. They cost about £20 and they were indeed made by Acor.

    What are these brakes

They're Marin Lite brakes based on the Avid Tri Align. Taiwanese made and a bit of a nightmare to set up compared to the Avids. Nice looking brake but strictly mid-range componentry at best.

    Shimano Carbon V Brake Booster

That's correct. The top hat washer is/was used to provide clearance between the booster and the linkage on XT and XTR Vs.

What forks does this brace fit...?

Have you tried it on a Judy? I seem to remember a few companies did upgrade braces bitd.

Retro Animal Pro-Series Chronograph Watch W004

Seeing this thread has made me dig up my old W003 with the orange face. Needs a strap and a battery though. At the mo I'm wearing my Citizen Eco-drive Titanium (with an Animal watch strap). It seems that Animal aren't the only company that has watch straps that disintegrate!

    Raleigh brake bosses on backwards?

Are they removable bosses? I've seen a couple of frames where the spring holes are in a separate plate from the brake boss itself. Obviously it's possible to fit the plate in the wrong place if someone doesn't know what they're doing. That said Raleigh ones are usually welded/bonded on...

    Your biggest overspend

Personally I never set a budget for a build because I know that I'd always go over it. I just carry on with a build until I'm satisfied that it's complete (for a short amount of time  ).

Disc Rotor / Caliper Sizing for my SID's

Partly. It's also to do with various fork fittings. A few years ago there were several fork/calliper fittings that weren't always the same, even if they looked like it.

    32 or 36 hole wheels?

36 spoke wheels are easier to true as each spoke supports a shorter section of rim than 32 hole. My Roval Pave wheels on my Tricross are a nightmare to true sometimes (24/20 spokes). In general, the less spokes in a wheel the heavier a rim has to be for the wheel to have the same strength...

Disc Rotor / Caliper Sizing for my SID's

If you use an IS mount then the rotor size is dependant upon the calliper type. That said SIDs were/are XC forks so a 160/165mm rotor would be the norm (although you could quite easily use a 180mm).

I use a Giro Hex myself. So comfortable that I sometimes forget that I'm wearing it (almost).
