Looking for a new wheelset for a retro/modern build. Anyone recommend something that still has that classic look? Velo Orange looks appealing but not sure what else is out there.
Hi all, as per the title…looking for a Dura Ace front mech, 7700 flavour, 28.6mm clamp/band on.
Needs to be good condition but doesn’t need to be NOS or completely spotless.
Cheers
Good call on the ratios. I like in the South East and where I am a 30 mile ride is about 2500-3000ft elevation. Tends to be lots of steep climbs and then just flat. So the elevation profile is very short and sharp. Fitness is average, I do think on some the 30 with a 28 rear might be too low but...
Funnily enough I have seen a very nice 46/30 crankset so am keen on that. In terms of front/rear mechs, I’m guessing you’d go Shimano too if you were going Shimano hubs/cassette? 9/10 speed?
Good shout, having said what I said, the reality is that I'm not gonna be touring much, I will be riding light if I do it. Good call on Shimano vs Campy strength, didn't appreciate/know that.
So at the moment I'm focussed on trying to find a rear mech/front mech, and then a respective cassette/chain. Everything else is in hand pretty much. Just can't decide which to go for!
Hey thanks for the reply - I probably should have elaborated a bit on the build/project. It's a 1959 Hurricane. It's being re-shaped/tracked so that it'll now be 130mm rear and 100mm front. I'm having the old mech hanger removed (which was only good for the Benelux 5 speed that was originally on...
Hi all,
Firstly, I'm a total noob when it comes to the retro road side of things so please bear with. I'm looking to put "newer" kit onto my Holdsworth Hurricane frame as I want to use it as a bit of a touring bike/general slow cycling let's potter about in the countryside type ride.
I'm...
So I need a wheelset for a 1959 Holdsworth build. I am totally clueless on all things vintage wheels; all I know is that when it was new it was a 5 speed, thinking 5 or 6 speed but no idea what I’m looking for.
Any help or direction in what I should be looking for/what would work for that...
Hi all,
So I’ve been a member on the MTB side of the site for ages and know enough to get by about 90’s MTB! However. My Father in law recently gave me his old Holdsworth Hurricane and I am starting a project to restore to as much of it’s former glory as I can.
I’ve attached some pics but from...
Re:
So maybe a 94 isn’t so essential. At this rate I will take what I can get, as long as the size is right. I had to let mine go as I couldn’t ride it comfortably.
Ok so I sold a Buckshaver here recently, it was too small. But I loved it and gave it the treatment for sure.
Anyone got a 94 Buck frame in Large? Gotta be 94...probably one of the last of the handbuilt ones.
Anyway, here’s hoping
