The bike you're thinking of was called an Eclipse. Same price & spec as a Record Sprint only with a different colour scheme. I had one around 88 if memory serves, cost £199 at the time.

My mate had the Strada in 89. It was an odd purple/blue colour. It cost £319 back then. It had 531 maintubes with hi-ten steel triangle & forks. They also came with a relaxed geometary & would take mud guards. At the same time I had an Elix, slightly racier geo', Exage group, strange blue...

Lovely machine.... I have a "Services des Courses" Raleigh also. Mine is built up with Super Record. It differs from yours slightly in that "Services des Courses" is on the down tube, just infront of the shifters. Mine also had the "GoD" sticker & a world champs transfer. No pump peg on mine...

I use Veloflex Pave's. Admittedly they don't get alot use so I can't vouch for their longevity but they certainly look the part. PBK usually have them at good prices.
