Much appreciated, polished a set of rival 22 cranks and fitted a direct mount chainring and upgraded jockey wheel cage to use a big old cassette. Got me round 3 peaks even in the current state of non exceptional fitness.

Re: Yes I think so. We spent so long trying to get the forest parts rideable that I think often we forgot about the fire roads!

I remember very clearly marshalling the corner at the bottom, the year that the forestry commission "re-surfaced" the corner. I would say every 10th person went straight on into the trees. There were a few broken collar bones that year.
