    Tales from a workshop

I'm no longer in the recycling centre as you may have guessed from the Venge in the background. My old haunt is still running as a council initiative and it is entirely donation based so they get what they get when they get it. I now work in a traditional bike shop so I get to work on a much...

    Tales from a workshop

New country, New workshop, Old bikes. Currently in the shop we have a GT STS 1 and a something I've not seen before. There's a Specialized Venge in there but I'm not sure if this is the right scene for that.

Shimano 105 Clip and strap pedals

As bought from JM here, lovely to look at and very smooth bearings but I just can't get along with toe retention. Pic courtesy of JM as I only fitted them in my spare room with my slippers on - http://www.flickr.com/photos/45080961@N ... 782347048/ £15 posted, quick sale needed as I am...

    Blow torches and bottom brackets.....

You may be surprised how little heat you need. You can also strip the frame and put the BB tool in a vice, using the frame as a lever. This has worked well for me in the past, so long as you are carefull.

    Whatever Happened To... Foam Tyres?

I had one on a roadie for a while. Truly horrible to fit and came off frighteningly easily. Looked odd too with no valve stem.

    Missing seatpost parts

Hi all, I managed to get a nice Campagnolo seatpost for next to nothing but, to my chagrin it is missing the parts that the seat rails fit into. As I had nothing to compare it to I could not see my error until it was too late. Can these be purchased or found separately, or even does anyone...

    Cutting a Columbus Foderi Fork

Hi all, I picked up one of these today for my girlfriends bike as the chrome on her forks is wrecked. It's a normal size steerer and her bike is small so the threads need to be cut down. Looks like this one, it's got too dark outside for proper pictures I'm afraid. I'm quite happy...

    tour of britain

Just back from the finish in London. Absolutely brilliant! Mrs even more excited by it all than me. Crowd very well behaved and enthusiastic. Many stunning road bikes and one guy with a huge Specialized tat on his leg. That's commitment. What's next on the "Tour of.." diary?
