    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

That's cool, I haven't ever seen that before. Definitely worth keeping in mind. It would look good on pearlescent white, but I fear even if the black stripped off easily the white beneah is pretty wrecked, given the amount of rust on show.

    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

Yours looks in much better condition than this! I'm trying to embrace the terrible paint as a theft deterrent for now (though in that case I probably need to change the skewers for non-QR). I love ubrakes. If this fits well and I'm enjoying the ride it will one day get a nice new finish ...

Help please - Steel GT serial numbers

The fork looks the right shape for GT, but I think the Tequesta fork would have only had one eyelet each side, so possibly the fork is from a model lower in the range (or there was some variability in the forks supplied). The origianl colour is likely to have either been the Wild Daktari Black...

Help please - Steel GT serial numbers

I thought this was the 1994 Karakoram in black with blue and white decals: (pic credit: Full Beans Bikes) If so, all three cables go under the Groove Tube.

Help please - Steel GT serial numbers

I'll rely on someone with better knowledge to confirm, but I think that the cable routing was all along to top tube in 1994, which would make this a 1993 - although this paint scheme is not listed in the catalogue.

Help please - Steel GT serial numbers

It is helpful, thank you. It's definitely a 1994, right? That's an early manufacture for the next year.

Help please - Steel GT serial numbers

There should be an additional character under the cable guide for the second two numbers, so T9112 A034 #071. The first will be an 'A', the second will be whatever number serial they had got to - not important for information. You have a 1992 Tequesta (Tange MTB double-butted tubing) with the...

    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

I haven't ridden them yet as I'm still in the process of building the bike back up - I'll do a mini-review once I've tried them. So far, all I can say is that they were easy enough to get on the rims and they felt fairly light so I imagine the 665g claimed weight is accurate.

    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

As someone previously spotted, it's not even rattle can - it's been brushed on. Not rushing it to my favourite powdercoaters is one of the biggest challenges ..... better I test it for size and how it rides more (with hopefully a lower risk of theft) before an eventual full resurrection.

    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

Well, a few more bits done. Despite have many sets of unused tyres, I can somehow always find a justification to buy more when they are on offer. I have been using Kurust on all the exposed rust on the frame. Maybe need one more application next time it's not raining. The idea is I'll build it...

For Sale FRM kit, Bars, Stem, Cranks, Cantis

Love the cranks and cantis, but I they are beyond my means at the moment and I don't have a build for them.

    Black friday...28th Nov 25

I would have loved to join in, but no time to actually get to all my stuff and sort through it. It would have only been the things I have already separated out, which are mainly some skinwall tyres that it would be a hassle to post.

    York Cycle Rally 2026

Seems to be true - Knavesmire no longer available and likely to be permanent. No excuse for me not to come by bike then!

    Wheelbuilders' thoughts...

I didn't buy complete wheels, but I did buy some of those design rims for my Raleigh build: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1988-89-part-lugged-part-fillet-brazed-raleigh-frame.444391/post-3455946 Obviously a bit more annoying in terms of needing more spoke lengths, but I like the look. As...

    1990 Ritchey Ultra Rescue

Actual progress with one of my builds (no, not the Aende or Scapins): Having resorted to cutting most the spokes to dismantle the wheel, I had found some spokes the same length ..... but only 29. I saved some of the originals, so no problem ....... ....... except this is exactly the sort of...

Early 1990 Gt Xizang 18” in the USA

I think the Maurice Lavoie made ones finished in 1991, so the 2x4 fork would be more appropriate. I have one waiting, but it's sized for a 20" frame.
